Jamestown, Virginia

The Original Jamestown Settlement Jamestown is one of those few places in the states where you feel the weight of history. Walking around here is a bit like walking around a ghost town — where you feel like there’s something there that you can’t see.
All that’s left of the settlement are foundations with wood fences around the perimeter, many of them significantly buried in the ground so you only see a hint of what’s left on the surface. Not to downplay the significance by saying “all that’s left,” since it’s a pretty amazing thing to walk along roadways that are 400 years old.
