Nauticus Annual Report
Layout and production for a nautical museum in Norfolk, Virginia. The interior was full-color with full-bleed, featuring hand-drawn illustrations of sea creatures, plants and water insects. The interior had a transparent vellum page between the cover and interior pages, printed with an old nautical map I procured from an antique dealer, to invoke the theme of water and tides. Photography was handled in-house to reduce costs.
The cover had a custom die-cut with a wrap-around flap that sealed with a branded sticker, so it could work as a self-mailer. The interior of the cover was flooded with a 1-color imprint of the same antique map.
Because the photography and illustrations were done in-house, it kept the per-piece cost to the project's budget, allowing for custom details like the vellum and die-cuts.
